Shakespeare portal
There is no paucity of Shakespeare bibliography but, even if you are fully immersed in the field, you may still find one e-resource useful as a portal bringing together a lot of information and providing easy avenues for further research. It is the Shakespeare Census, edited by Adam G. Hooks and Zachary Lesser. Created in 2018 and updated regularly, it provides a current census of copies of the First, Second, Third and Fourth Folios plus quarto editions up to 1700.
A huge amount of copy-specific data is included and there are links to digital facsimiles and further bibliographies. For bibliophilic sleuths, there is even a list of “ghosts” in case you want to try to track them down. In short, it is a useful, accurate, and easy first port of call for anyone concerned with pre-1700 editions and copies of Shakespeare works.
