The Society is seeking to appoint three new Council members at its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 18 October 2022. Also at the AGM James Raven will step down as President and will be succeeded by Richard Linenthal. Nominations for Council and a Vice-President will therefore be considered at the Council meeting on Tuesday, 6 September 2022, and should be submitted to the Hon. Secretary (secretary@bibsoc.org.uk) no later than Friday, 2 September 2022, in order to be circulated in advance of that meeting.
Nominations for ordinary Council members should be supported by a brief summation of a candidate’s suitability for the Council and include a description of their particular skills and expertise. We would ask that you ascertain in advance that any nominee would be willing to serve in the event of their successful election. At this time, Council is particularly interested in recruiting members with expertise in digital matters and electronic publications. All Council members are expected to be proactively involved in the business of the Society and take on the organisation and execution of additional events or short-term projects during their time on Council. Members may nominate other members or themselves, and no more than three nominations may be submitted by any one person. As in the past, should there be more nominations than places available, a vote will be taken by Council.
Nominations for a Vice-President should be supported by a longer description of a candidate’s suitability for the role. Members may nominate themselves or other members, and no more than three nominations may be submitted by any one person.
And if you feel unable at this time to put yourself forward for Council, but would like to volunteer your skills and assistance in a particular way to help the Society, please contact the Hon. Secretary (secretary@bibsoc.org.uk). As you will see from our website, we are now involved in numerous activities and new support and contributions are very much appreciated.
