At our last Council meeting of the academic year we were very pleased to receive the report of the Committee which meets every year or two to consider the award of the Society’s Gold Medal.
We are delighted to report that the Gold Medal will be awarded this year to Dr David Shaw in recognition of his distinguished services to bibliography, including in the Cathedral Libraries Catalogue and his many publications on French and English printing. Nicolas Bell, Society President, will have the honour of presenting the medal to Dr Shaw at the first lecture meeting of the new academic year, on 18 November, 2025.
Dr Shaw’s most recent presentation to the Society was the Graham Pollard Memorial Lecture for 2025 on The Settlement Act of 1697, entitled “The Stationers and the Poor Law“. A complete list of his digital productions, as well as his other publications, can be found at djshaw.uk.
